[ QUOTE ] He then said there had been some discussion of creating a precious metals fund that players could buy into, and then use their fund account to play. [/ QUOTE ] I call your 4 ounces of gold and raise you 30 ounces of silver, 10 ounces of gold, and 5 ounces of platinum. [/ QUOTE ] if cashing out means I get bars of gold mailed to me I am in. |

lol! And I raise the Dutchman mine!
What I understood him to mean was that your metal mutual account would be treated as a brokerage account. You could draw down funds from it to fund poker. |

Re: WTF - Party Poker at the State Fair
Having my bankroll tied to the precious metals market would make be extremely quesey. The market is volatile, and not prone to long-term growth. As the addage goes, "Back in the mid-1800s, 1oz of gold would buy you a nice, well-tailored suit. Today 1oz of gold will buy you ...well... one nice, well-tailored suit." In the short-term, you'd watch your bankroll fluxuate wildly from week to week, even if you're taking a break from the tables.

[/ QUOTE ] If 1oz of gold in the mid 1800's bought a nice suit and today it buys the same thing, then it means gold has kept up with inflation. If you converted that 1oz of gold in the mid 1800's into cash, then in terms of todays dollars, after inflation...you would be lucky to buy a big mac meal at mcdonalds. |
