I think working in a cigar shop would be pretty fun and not very mentally taxing.

However if you don't like cigars or cigar smoke it probably wouldn't be something you would enjoy.

A library: ideally a university library and not a public one with vagrants.

This is an excellent answer. A better one would be a video store.

random cunsultant for friends/family who have interesting jobs.

my older brother works for a hedge fund and last summer i wanted to play poker / relax and be free to do what i felt like (travel, have knee surgery), but wanted to have something for my resume in case i decide to get a good finance job after graduation. so he would send me low level projects and stuff that he had to do. i didn't do much so i didn't get paid, he said if i wanted to work semi-hard his boss would almost definitely give me some kind of bonus at the end of the summer but i said i didn't want to get paid so i wouldn't have to worry about not doing too much.

so you if you have friends / family in something your interested in you could see about doing something similar.

I'd be curious to see how many people in this thread have ever worked in a fast paced restaurant. Being a bartender is not an easy job; especially one at a good location. If you're looking for something relatively stress free, and more laid back, I wouldn't go the bartender route.

Besides, not anyone can just be a bartender. Most places only hire those with quite a bit of experience, or those with bartending school degrees.

So I've reached a point where having a job at the moment isnt that important. I find that it would be best to have some sort of job just to avoid the obvious questions from the family about how i pay my bills and whatnot.

I'm thinking something that is 20-35hrs a week and during day time hours. I'm contemplating a gas station clerk but thats pretty stale. Something with lots of chics or cool younger people would be a plus.

Any ideas?

I'm serious when I say this......

Starbucks

I've often said if I wasn't already in too much debt. With a wife ex-wife and 4 kids I would have already quit my job and gone to Starbucks.

Think about it. Almost everyone that goes in there is in a good mood. But not in TOO good of a good mood.
