Re: Wynn drills Picasso : \"Thank goodness it was me.\"
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I read something about this before, and I was wondering what kind of security system that guy must have in his office. No alarm went off when he punctured that painting? I would think that a painting that can be sold for $139 million would have some sort of security devices attached to it, but I might have seen too many movies about crafty art thieves. Maybe he flips a switch to turn alarms off when he's in his office, I don't know. [/ QUOTE ] that painting is worth [censored] on the black market. [/ QUOTE ] lol but on the rich white people who like to waste millions of dollaments its worth 139 mill.... |

Do you think with Wynn's eye condition, the painting actually looked like something recognizable?

Judging from "La Reve" itself, Picasso may have agreed that it was an improvement. It wasn't something recognizable to start with!

Roman,
"that painting is worth [censored] on the black market." Based on my expert knowledge from watching many art heist movies, I am confident it is worth a lot to shady Asian art collectors who keep these paintings locked away in their private collections. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think that depends on your definition of a lot. If it was a commissioned job, I think $10M would probably be around the price. Otherwise, a thief would be lucky to get over $3M for it. I've always thought it was a shame how thieves aren't adequately compensated for the amount of skill required and risk undertaken in some of these jobs. |
