Re: Middle set turns into middle straight
[ QUOTE ]
greg- there was a diamond draw on the flop, and then a club draw on the turn, of which I had neither. [/ QUOTE ] fine so i can't read. but my point is still that if you enumerate all boards thru the turn for you, this is still a pretty good one since you have - only 1 higher card to worry about higher set - two random lower cards that almost certainly didn't help him - very few straight draws potentially out - a gutshot yourself -only downside is dbl suited since it will be single suited vast majority of time by now so you've got a far better than average board hitting your set and a better than average board GIVEN you hit your set, and STILL you are in a spot where its tough to play |

Re: Middle set turns into middle straight
i wasn't saying you cant read, i just thought that it might change your response if you saw there was a draw on the flop and then two draws on the turn.
you seem irritated..... |

[/ QUOTE ] Only because I'm playing for [censored] these days i didn't take any offense on the hand, just noting i misread it. doesn't change my thoughts that you play too loose OOP which is the root of the issue imho. don't throw your car keys in the ocean and you won't have to ask the 2+2 board how to find them, as badger would say. not to be a dick or anything, lol. i think playing that hand with position is great. but you don't want my thoughts preflop anyway. |

Re: Middle set turns into middle straight
you know, the funny thing is, i'd say i dont want your thoughts preflop, but i still like hearing another point of view, regardless of what it is.
i'd argue that it's a marginal call preflop, and at the time i was looking for an excuse to make a hand against some of the deep stacks, which, ironically is a good reason *not* to make a hand with some hands, perhaps this one. i just hated the river card because of the way the turn went. this guy playing this hand so passively had me confused, and fearing i was against top set, as he'd pop me if he had a wrap/f draw. |
