Other great Miles albums are "Birth of the Cool", "Miles Away", "Around Midnight" and "Sketches of Spain".
"Birth of the Cool" included a nine piece band that plays so nimbly it sounds like a much smaller group. Max Roach's drumming on this record stands out. Some don't feel that "Sketches of Spain" does not qualify as a jazz album. Be that as it may it is still a stunning work. "Concierto de Aranjuez" is just a brilliant piece of music. "Around Midnight" contains Coltrane's first recorded work with Miles. If you can find this in the 2 CD format get it. |
