you can mix and match buttons/cards/graphics from themes by hand i think, but when stars updates it rewrites the files.

The way around this is to stars the PokerStars.exe instead of the normal way which runs an updater first. It's a pain in the ass though.

wow@ all the haters. it's really not that bad, i guess it really depends which site you started out on i think. everyone i know who started on party hates stars and every one who started on stars throw up when we have to play on party
