I will vote libertarian.

Which will mean you are wasting your vote. You might as well not vote at all.

Wow. This is a great political thread. Too bad there's not a forum here at 2+2 devoted soley to politics. Someone should create one of those.

There is also a thread going on in another forum here about how the religious Republican nuts are also about to mount a big atttack on 'porn' on the internet, and I'm not just talking about child porn. Bill Frist and other Republcans have said it should be illegal for adults in america to even visit a site like Playboy, and they also want to prosecute and arrest anyone who makes are distrubutes a 'mainstream' adult dvd. I'm telling you these Republicans are very dangerous and want to take away any freedom left for adults in the US. Anyone who loves freedom needs to vote next month and send these semi-taliban relgious Republicans away..

If that's your attitude, then everyone "might as well not vote as all". No one expects their single vote to decide the winner. The point is to vote for what you believe in.

Also, the LP doesn't have to win or even come close to winning to make a difference. If even 10% of voters were to switch to a party like that, both of the major parties would start to follow more libertarian parties to try to pull those voters back into their fold and gain a majority.

Voting for the Libertarian Party (or Green Party or whatever) is only a waste if you would have otherwise voted for one of the major parties. If you would otherwise not vote, then its an expression of dissatisfaction with the major parties rather than apathy, which is important. I'm thinking of voting Libertarian for the first time (I have always voted Republican but I don't like how the religious right controls everything they do).

I strongly suggest you review who voted for HR4411 in the house... this is not a democrat vs republican issue...

If you review the voting record on HR4411, you will discover your statement to be false!
