Re: I have trips, you muck, oops, I don\'t
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] What does floor rule? What should floor rule? [/ QUOTE ] In all the hours I have spent there this has never came up when I was there. So I realy do not know if CA has a specific rule on the books about misdeclairation of a hand at showdown. If there is a rule on the book, the player should get the boot. Since the other player never tabled her hand and it is now lost in the wash, the only live hand is the angle shooter's hand will have to be awarded pot, racked up, cashed out and pushed out the door after security gets their information on him. BTW who was the angle shooter? [/ QUOTE ] The floor ruled that player 2 mucked her hand, it is dead and player 1 gets the pot. I (being the big mouth who started the whole mess by telling player 2 he miscalled his hand) asked for an clarification. The floor (bald headed guy, not Ron, younger guy can't remember his name) explained that player 1 would only forfeit the pot if he had miscalled his hand intentionally. Since the floor had no negative interactions with player 1 before, he gets benefit of the doubt. Player 1 was a guy I've never played with. He was a weak player and I am pretty certain he was not shooting any angle. Still I was so bewildered by the ruling I consulted with a veteran player, who confirmed that in all the many other casino's he's played at, the floor would typically rule the same way. If the miscaller is a known angle shooter, they lose the pot, otherwise they give regular players the benefit of the doubt. |

Sounds fair to me.

This is one of those spots that as either player I'd gladly offer to chop the pot with the other.

So the player declaring his hand says "queens with a nine?" He actually underdeclared his hand. He had "queens with a king jack nine". I don't think his statement "queens with..." implied he had three queens. If he said "three queens with a nine", then I'd consider handing the pot to the mucker. As is, I think he's ok.

I was thinking that too. As far as I know he didn't really misread his hand.

Ditto.
Either OP miscalled the action, or there is nothing to discuss. |

Re: I have trips, you muck, oops, I don\'t
I've played in casinos where if at showdown, a player called their hand without having the hand they declared, they automicaly are disqualified from any part of the pot.
I happen to like this rule. |

[/ QUOTE ] They're always declaring. Why are they always declaring? Just show. ("Ludicrous speed, go.") I'd prefer a rule in place that says shut your [censored] mouth and turn over your cards immediately after you've been called. Not after waiting to see if the other player is going to show first, not after looking at the board, and then your cards, and then the board, and then your cards, six times in an effort to see if maybe somehow even though your bluff didn't work you might have a straight (you obviously don't)... just turn them over and let them speak. |
