What method have people used to clear the Palace bonus? This seems like a very good bonus but 8000 wagering seems a lot. I read that $1 on 5 spot was the hest route? Any thoughts?

The best game to clear the Golden Palace bonus is BJ surrender. I'd recommend single hand BJ rather than 5 hands. 5 sequential $1 hands has a much lower variance than playing 5 $1 hands simultaneously; You do not have a great speed gain from playing 5 hands at once; And some players have reported abnormal results with the muli-hand method.

Select bet size to correspond to your risk tolerance.

With a bet size of $1, there is a 99.5% chance that you will make a gain and 68% (1 SD) chance of a gain between +165 and +370 (including bonus).

With a bet size of $5, there is a 88% chance that you will make a gain and 68% (1 SD) chance of a gain between +40 and +500 (including bonus).

You can check for other bet sizes using the calculator I wrote yesterday at spam link removed.

The ~0.2% difference in house edge amounts to a difference in expected return of under $20 on the $300 bonus. What is more significant is the ~60% difference in variance (higher for Pontoon). In my opinion the slight improvement in house edge is not worth the increased variance. In addition Pontoon plays slower and has a greater chance of play mistakes for the typical person, who is less familiar with the strategy tables.

Agree about the variance in pontoon but to say pontoon strategy is harder to follow is just plain wrong. Anybody can compare a BJ table to a pontoon table and it should be apparently clear that BJ is the more difficult to follow.

On another note, thank you for another great resource for us bonus chasers.

Right, its not hard to follow, and I didn't say that. I said it plays slower and has a greater chance of play mistakes for the typical person, who is less familiar with the strategy tables.

Many people have the BJ strategy tables memorized, but not pontoon. They have to look up the startegy with lots of pontoon hands, but few or no hands with BJ. This results in faster play on BJ. The greater chance of error relates to the tables being unfamiliar, not being difficult to follow.

Thanks. I appreciate the support.

Pontoon strategy is 3 freaking columns. If you can read, Pontoon is the easiest game.

If you don't like variance, maybe you should try slots. You'll lose your money fast or very fast, so pretty minimal variance.
