[/ QUOTE ] Real clever, too bad its not true. Phillips never gave himself a chance in the NFL for off the field reasons, it wasn't his play. Dick Vermeil spoke very highly of his ability when the rams cut him for off field reasons.

Tiki Barber averaged 3.8 and 3.2 yards per carry his first 2 seasons. One season doesn't get a guy run out of the league, especially when he is a high draft pick like Phillips.

He was mediocre at best and would never improve due to his refusal to work hard and his off field problems. Yes, Vermiel did give him a "wish him well" speech when he was released, but guess what, that's classic Vermiel.
