I don't think we can ascertain the full effects of the War on the economy at this time. Deficit spending is a tricky subject, but it could very well be that we are doing okay at the expense of future generations.
A new report says that 600,000 Iraqis haved died since the liberation, much higher than the estimates. Saddam killed 220,000 or something like that in 20 years. Its getting worse. This War is just sick. |

[ QUOTE ]
How is it that Janeane Garofalo had a better analysis of Iraq's weapons program -- and of the likelihood of a protracted occupation -- than the combined forces of the White House, U.S. intelligence agencies, and leading U.S. news media? [/ QUOTE ] I think they used to call it common sense. But it ain't so common nowadays. |

[ QUOTE ] This is going to be economically devastating for us. [/ QUOTE ]That of course turned out not to be true. Certainly it has been costly. However, the economy has flourished during the war and we have added something like 5 million jobs since it started. For accuracy: Her prediction that Iraq would devastate our economy = her prediction that the movie "Stay" wouldn't be a total bomb when she accepted the role [/ QUOTE ] Do you like bridges? I have a couple that might interest you. |

[/ QUOTE ] Woah, you mean massive amounts of deficit spending didn't induce huge job loss? Economists everywhere are shocked. If we change economically to fiscally, her statement is on target. I'm confident that's what she meant. Also, your use of the word flourished is even worse hyperbole than her use of devastating. |
