Gekko got inside info that wildman was taking over a company IIRC Endicot Steal. Gekko started buying large blocks of stock in anticipation that wildmans offer would drive up the price. When wildman caught wind that gekko bought that stock, he requested a sitdown, so wildman could negotiate a price (if he had to but it on the open mkt, the stock would soar costing wildman much more). They ended up negotiating a price in which gekko would tender his stock to wilman.

#2 When Bud found gekkos true intentions for buying Bluestar air (the company where his father worked). Bud brought him the stock with the idea gekko would buy the stock, streamline it, and make it more profitable. Gekkos real intention was to buy it, then sell it off in little pieces, essentially liquidating it.

#3 Gekkos greed speech basically was his defense in buying large blocks of (i forget name) the company's shareholders meeting he was speaking (he bought over 5%). He was saying IIRC that greed is what motivates people for pushing harder. That the 6 figure salaried board members were doing nothing to move the stock price b/c they were guaranteed a salary and had no motivation to do so. His "greed" for a higher stock price was common to most of the shareholders at the meeting , b/c all shareholders want to see theri stock rise.

#4 Gekko is a term for a turtle. It characterized gekko's mentality in that he was very slow and calculated in his deliberations.
