I have one that I wear pretty regularly. I never really thought about wether it was "gay" or not. Oddly enough, it was a gift from two friends of mine that happen to be gay. They know I'm not gay and have met my girlfriend. In addition, neither of them wear thumb rings. I'd have to say that is evidence of "not gay" but not enough to be conclusive.
