anyone else think the intentional safety by SD was stupid? If they punt it away and Baltimore still scores a TD, they are only down by 1, and there is more time on the clock.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, it was fine. Perfect call in that spot. And its not close.

I thought the stupidest play of that game was Billick electing to punt from his own 40 on 4th and inches. 5 minutes left with no timeouts. I don't care how good your defense is, that's an awful, awful call. If the Ravens lose that game, he'd get a ton of backlash about that decision.

Marty's safety call was a ridiculously good call in that spot. The punter looked hurt, they were punting from their own 7, Baltimore would be down by more than a FG either way, and if BAL scores a TD the game would be within 3 either way. Great call.

I disagree. It's not a great call. It should be very standard there.

Opponent needs same scoring to win it. You gain some yards and don't run the risk of a block. Why wouldn't you like it?

How about the Ole Miss coach last night, Ed Orgon or something.

Ole Miss trails Georgia 7-3 with 7:00 to go in the 3rd quarter, they have 4th and 5 at the Georiga 20 yard line... they line up and GO FOR IT???

Ok there is literally almost the entire half left to play and you trail by 4 points, kickt he stupid field goal, my god. Maybe they think they have a sucky kicker but still...

If it's 4th and 1 or only 7:00 to go int he 4th quarter ok I can see this, but there is a reason teams don't throw nothing but hail mary's in the 1st quarter. Save desperate measures for desperate times.

that's not overthinking, that's taking a calculated risk against a top ten team.
