engineer: I highly recommend Improve Your Poker since you don't have it.

I will definitely look into it next time I hit my local bookstore. I am a sucker for poker books.

The Theory of Poker by Sklansky is the obvious choice here.

Just wondering, is it that much different than NLHE Theory and Practice?

Completely different. It is an absolute 100% must buy for all serious poker players.

Theory of poker will give you an excellent insight into the underlying principals of poker in all of its forms, not just Hold'em.

All serious students of the game have read it and if you're serious about the game you should own a copy, it's that simple.

I'm only playing PL and NLHE right now.

This is what I've heard, and this book is certainly on my future to-get list. I was looking more for a book that would significantly help my online play now, used in conjunction with the 4 I've read already.
Knowing this, would this still be the most recommended?

I really don't think you understand how monumental
Theory of Poker is in terms of poker literature. If you had to read only one book on poker, it would almost definitely be the choice. You'll be doing yourself a big favour in getting it.

And then get seven card stud for advanced players. That is a rocksolid awesome book, even if it is not about hold'em. Fantastic book

Great books generally on poker that are not completely how to play a certain game specific:

Ace on the river--greenstein
Improve your poker--ciaffone
gambling theory and other topics--malmuth
Poker, gaming and life--sklansky
poker essays 1,2,3--malmuth
Inside the poker mind--feeney

I found all of these books very enjoyable to read as well as enlightening.

Theory of Poker is a very good book, but it is difficult and not particularly enjoyable to read. And in my opinion the concepts are better covered in other books although Sklansky's book was the first to cover many of these ideas.

Supersystem 2 is generally game specific but has Doyle's bio in it as well which is pretty interesting reading.

No, HOH3 will improve your NLH play far more than TOP would.
