I just called to get switched from cable to dish this sunday. I finally got a deal that i can get Fox Sports Midwest (actually all the fox sports channels) for six bucks extra which allows me to watch the cardinals games. With that and the DVR system my bill is still gonna be cheaper than my crappy cable (lowest package, no box or anything). I saw the DVR in work this weekend for the first time at a friends house during sunday night football and decided that anybody that didn't have the pause, fastfoward and all that was just getting screwed by cable.

Unless you live in the St. Louis area, you're not gonna be able to watch Cards games. All pro games on the FSN (et al) networks are blacked out. You have to buy the baseball/football/basketball/hockey packages to watch games on anything but your local FSN affiliate (the one that comes with the basic sattelite package).

Time Warner with HD channels, a couple other extras, and RAI. It's okay, but I'd prefer any of DirecTV, Dish Network, or Comcast if they were available.

Had comcast and they pissed me off. Now I have Knology which is perhaps only available in the Knoxville area. No problems so far. I have Digital Cable w/HBO, Cable Internet, and Digital Land Line service that works out to about $150/m once all the little ad-ons factor in. Not the cheapest, but not unreasonable.

We've had DISH since '99 and have been happy with it. However, we do have the problem of losing satellite signal during heavy rain.

I would never want to own a TV without DVR after having it. Seriously, I try to push the "back" button on the car radio now. DISH has a receiver with two tuners and DVR, (picture in a picture, record two things at once, etc.). We had to get it from a dealer because DISH didn't sell it direct. Don't know if it's still available.

I have Comcast Digital platinum/premium package with internet. Our bill was roughly $165, I think, before stuff like ppv movies. One day out of the blue my gf was haggling with the phone company and got our monthly bill lowered. I have no idea of the particulars. Anywa, she decided to call Comcast on a whim and asked about any specials, etc. Out of the blue they offered to cut our bill to $90. I was stunned. Since then she's told several people to give it a shot, apparently all with no success so far. I'd say give it a shot anyway though ,maybe you'll get lucky.

I'll ask her exactly how the conversation went down if anybody's interested.
