of course.

what he said

side note: why are we posting such easy/stupid hands, I'm guessing you raised, he went all in you called and he showed you a bigger full house, now you're 2nd guessing yourself, one of your weak tight friends said just to call this river, and now you're on here wanting a million responses from people all saying you played it fine. (am I somewhere in the ballpark?)

No.

Playing live you should be able to have a read on this guy as being a moron. You say weird, but you should be able to tell just by looking at his eyes and face whether he is a truly thinking player, or a donkey.

With that said, I think this is an easy spot to value raise this river.

If he did in fact have a set, don't you think he would have either raised you on the flop or turn considering there were 2 flush draws out there?

You really should have known you were 100% on river. You're right, no reason anyone plays 77 or 75 so passivly. However, THERE IS A REASON TO RAISE HERE. Raising here gives the opponent an opportunity to make a mistake (with a hand like AA), or a chance for you to get 53 in the muck after italian guy folds. No reason to give away any free information.

You are all correct. If I thought it through, it is clear that he doesn't have any of the possible hands that beat me (like QQ 77 75), as he would likely have checkraised the turn. So I cost myself alot of value by not raising the river. I play bad sometimes.

(However, he played even worse.)

I didn't raise because I thought it was unlikely I would get called by a hand that I beat. Probably the only way that happens is when he has 5 and hits trip fives on the end.

I might put Q7 in that category, too. I'm not sure I know the guy you're talking about, but I know a gambly Italian fellow, somewhat older, in that game who would absolutely positively call that river raise with Q7. And he'd limp with Q7 before the flop, too.

I just called. He showed a bizarrely played AA. I won. Everyone at the table yelled at me for not going all in.

Howard, it was the small dude who wears dark-tinted glasses and has an annoying, chirpy voice. Very unpleasant guy.
