"I expect them to start dating soon." Chavez and Falwell? [/ QUOTE ] No, Bill and Hillary. When Bill hears that Hillary is "energizing", I predict he will see her as the new Monica. Go baby. |

I love Robin Williams's line in the new movie coming out where he's campaigning for president: "I did not have sex with that woman. I wanted too . . ."

But his beliefs were resurrected, abetted of course by the disasterous Carter and Ford administrations, in the form of Ronald Reagan. A beneficial sacrifice. [/ QUOTE ] How? Ronald Reagan ran up huge debt (the opposite of Goldwater's low spending platform) and was famously against abortion and drug use. |

Do you doubt that Reagan ran up huge debt or was anti choice or anti drugs?

his "huge debt" led to the greatest period of prosperity since the 50s, he was anti drug, which is a good thing, and whether he was anti-choice is irrelevant, since it wasnt an issue in his administration. You do realize that it is referred to generally as the Goldwater-Reagan era of conservatism?
[ QUOTE ] Just ask the Conservative Republicans. They can recite you this lesson by heart. In every glowing account they write of their gradual rise to power they always point to Barry Goldwater’s unsuccessful 1964 campaign and Ronald Reagan’s 1976 bid for the Presidency (which did not get beyond the Republican primaries) as the pivotal campaigns that laid the foundations for all their subsequent victories.
