A couple nights ago, i went to the gas station down the street for gas and some chips at like 3 a.m. Some drunk dude comes up to me and tells me his car died down the road and asks for a jump. i didn't have my jumper cables on me so i let him in my car and went back to my house to pick them up. we started up his car and went about his way.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the nicer thing to do would be to drive the drunk guy home.

This is pretty much my ticket to heaven.

Back a few years ago there was an Elvis Costello concert in Boston at the Fleet Pavillion. It was my first time going to see him. Earlier that day, he did some signings at the Newbury Comics in Harvard Sq. My buddy and I go and I get two records signed. While waiting in line, there's a family of 3, parents probably in the mid 30s and a boy no older than 11. The guy is likely a bigger Elvis Costello nerd than I am.. and the family is also sorta quirky.

Anyway, I had bought tickets a long time ago, but then my Mom won two free tickets on the radio. So now I have 4. Later, while waiting in line to get into the show, I see the family I saw earlier. They're having trouble at the ticket window. Serious amounts of frustration going on. Then they start walking away, obviously pissed, and the kid is doing some minor crying.

I say to my bud, "let's go check it out." So I run to catch them before they reach their car, and ask him what's up. He tells me that for some reason ticketmaster cancelled his tickets. I tell him I have two extra tickets, let's go talk to the guy and see if they'll let the kid in for free since he's small. We go up, explain the situation, they're cool with. Colin saves the day. Later that evening I spot the family and they're having a wonderful time.

the guy sobered up by the time he came up to me. the reason his car died was because he took a nap in his car and left something on. i thought about giving him a ride home but he only lived like 2 blocks away

events and gifts are cool and all, but i'm not sure what beats forgiveness when it's actually done without reservation.

I donated bone marrow. It hurt like a bitch but if it saves a life what is a little bit of pain.

I try to donate blood regularly.

I have that little box on the back of my drivers liscense checked that says if I die a horrible death then the hospital can hack me up and give my organs to others

I have also considered donating my semen but that would be a labor of love...

Cornell,

Did you ever get to meet the person you donated to?

My cousin donated marrow 10 years ago or so... the donor recipient was around my age and only had a 20% chance of survival, and he ended up pulling through. I got to meet him when that cousin got married -- he came to the wedding -- and it must be an awesome and rewarding experience to meet the person whose life you saved.
