Re: Military launches a Coup in Thailand
I'm not hungering for it. If there were a military coup here, I would buy a gun and head for Washington. There would be a lot of Democrats joining me.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I couldn't tell if the comment was from a leftist who wanted to storm Washington and unseat President Bush -- or from some sociopath who wanted the military seize control because they think President Bush is a giant [censored] for not littering the Middle East with H-bombs and detaining all the brown people to make sure we win the race wars ... err, war on terror. In other words, I couldn't tell if reachrevolver is an acolyte of Che Guevara or Timothy McVeigh. |

I think you just gained 2 points of respect from the AC crowd EDIT: You also have a bad habit of posting suggestive things about your spouse on the internet (yet another similarity to borodog) Here's a picture of Iron's wife's bush. |

Re: Military launches a Coup in Thailand
Just think about it, the Military could force out all the members of Congress, and mandate free and fair elections. We could get a one-time only deal where there would be no party line on the ballot. They would also get us out of Iraq lickety-split.

Re: Military launches a Coup in Thailand
I'm not asking for a permanent military government, just a transitional one that will reinstall the pillars of democracy that have been lost since the WW II. Now I'm contradicting myself because it is the military that is responsible for a lot of that... OK IM LOST NOW, I just feel like we'd be better off with military rule for a short time at least than with the current Congress (Republican or Democrat)/President, Supreme Court.

Re: Military launches a Coup in Thailand
Err, as much as i dont like GW Bush, you guys actually voted him in second time around.
If you want change then get more people to vote. Oh, re the Thai coup, as i understand it it stems from the people as they are deeply unhappy where the president was re-elected a few months back, stepped down (when he either lost, or won in dubious circumstances) and was asked to carry on by the king. Its complicated, but the important thing is its a bloodless coup which the people (presumably) endorse. |

Re: Military launches a Coup in Thailand
[ QUOTE ]
What's your point? [/ QUOTE ] My point is that there is plenty of firepower in this country to bring down the government or stop a military coup if we wanted to. The Iraqi insurgents had a lot less in the way of weapons than Americans do and the Iraqis have their government on the brink of collapse even though only a minority supports the insurgency. Also, the Democrats have softened their opposition to guns recently. Partly out of political expediency, but also because some of us have been persuaded by the gun advocates. I know I have. |
