hair drug test, last smoked 50 days ago, screwed?

Yeah I really hate the advent of drug testing on a widespread basis in anything but the strictest of professions. Like, say, cops, soldiers and Congress. Wait, they don't test Congress? WTF?

I don't even really use drugs, this [censored] just bothers me.

From what I've heard, a hair test provides pretty much a timeline of every drug you've done for (6+?) months. It's not like a urine test where the length of detection time varies based on the drug.

In a urine test, after 3 days you are relatively safe IF you have only smoked once. heavy smokers are screwed.

For a hair test, it seems they will detect any MJ. Sometimes the lab will excuse a small amount of THC to protect themselves from false-positives. But in your case the heavy smoking from July 1-31 will doom you.

Has any poster who lives outside the US ever had to submit to a drug test at work/to get work? I find it amazing that Americans have to go through this...it seems rather invasive to me. Plus I remember watching a news program on TV that talked about the huge percentage of false positives that result from the testing methods that are used.

However, every week I see a new post on here plus a bunch of responses from US-based posters, talking about drug tests as if they are extremely common.

That's right! And I just remembered where I saw the story about the false positive drug tests -- Mythbusters. They were eating poppy-seed bagels and were testing positive for opium -- despite the fact that the amounts they were eating were not supposed to cause positive results.

Yea, opiates (heroin, morhpine, etc.) are derived from a type of Poppy plant. The seeds come from a different variety of the plant, so im guessing when you are drug tested for opiates they dont test for the opiates themselves, but something else that lies within all poppy plants because opiates might not last as long in your system or something of that nature.
