Re: How many Gears (and define them) for N/L play?
[ QUOTE ]
Is he perhaps referring to Levels, as described in NLHE Theory & Practice? For example, always think one level more than your opponent is thinking? [/ QUOTE ] No. He was talking about specific manners in which to play. |

Re: How many Gears (and define them) for N/L play?
If you've raised 7 times preflop in the last 15 hands and bet the flop big, taking it down each time, some of the sharper players will begin to suspect that you are raising with mediocre to weak hands, and stealing a lot of the pots on the flop. They will adjust, and reraise you big with a half-decent hand like AJs the next time you raise, forcing you to toss your Q8s, or they may raise you on the flop with next to nothing, knowing you've probably got next to nothing too. So now raising a lot and trying to steal pots won't work very well, so you need to tighten up and only bet and raise when you do have a good hand, so when people think you are still stealing and try to stop you, you will destroy them and take all of their money. That's why wild crazy players build huge stacks when they actually go on a run of catching good cards - nobody believes them.
