[ QUOTE ]
This was something I never understood. Online, you get to see everything at showdown. Unless of course it wasn't heads up. I think the same should be in real life. This is especially true since many players do now know showdown rules and are showing hands out of turn and out of fashion. This means that as long as I wait on my hand, guarantee somebody else will show first, and if they win, I'll muck, even though I should have shown first.

I think heads up in showdowns, if somebody wants it, they should be able to get it, unless casinos start enforcing the order that people show.

[/ QUOTE ]

Gah, I think you're one of the people I hate. If you're pretty sure you've won the hand, just show your damn hand right away. It wastes so much [censored] time if everybody waits there turn to see what the person in front of them has, then checks to see if they won.

I always announce my hand at showdown right away if I think I've got a decent chance of winning or if I was the last to show aggression. If I notice that somebody has started taking advantage of that (ie. they're suppose to show but wait until I do first), I'll ask to see their hand every time they do it. The only times I consistently wait with my hand is if I've been calling an agressive person down. I want to see what they were betting the whole way.

Commerce lets anyone in the hand ask to see any hand played to showdown. For those that throw their hands into the muck, people just warn the dealer in advance of the showdown that they want to see the cards. Dealers will collect the muck before the showdown, making it difficult to bury your cards in the muck by tossing them in at the last.

In the "old days" of baseball, it was considered impolite if a catcher asked for ruling from the first baseball umpire on a checked swing. Now it is done all the time. The rule never changed. The rule is the rule and people are free to use or not as they see fit.

Check the rule at your house. Use it (or not) as you see fit. If you don't like someone using the rule as allowed at your house, I suggest you get over it or complain to the house away from your table.

If it's excessive, you can notify the Floor and have it stopped, the player(s) in question have NO right to the information and are using a rule incorrectly to gain information they wouldn't have had.

????

At every B&M I've played at (Los Angeles and Las Vegas) the rule is "any called hand must be shown on request by *any* player dealt into that hand"

I.e.any hand that is called (or that calls) on the river must be shown to any player that requests it, regardless if the requesting player folded before the river.

If *no one* calls your hand at the river (all fold) then no, your hand cannot be shown. But as long as one person calls you at showdown, then anyone involved in that hand can ask to see your hand.

Online, you need only look in the hand history to see what everyone had at showdown.

Of course, FOLDS cannot be revealed at anytime.

I was wondering if there is any type of rule about this, or is it cardroom specific?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope. Never heard of one.

Oh wait, there was that discussion about one once....

Argg, HUGE pet peeve of mine. When the person is involved in the hand, it is just a minor annoyance. When some guy folded pre-flop, watches all the action while sucking on a corona, then wants to know what I folded at the end? F**K HIM. I was playing 2-5NL at the borgata once, and there was a guy in a wheelchair who did this EVERY hand. I didn't say anything at first, cuz i kinda felt bad for him, but when he kept doing it, I got moved to a different table. I keep a pretty cool head most of the time, but that move always gets me hot.
Personal grievances aside, every cardroom I've been to in AC allows it, as far as I know. Put better, I've never seen a dealer say no to the request.

Everybody who is in at the showdown must declare their hands. Everybody who was dealt in the hand has the right to see a players hands at the show down. Collussion aside, asking to see a mucked hand is within anyone's right at the table. Forget collusion, if someone perpetually raises and calls and then mucks at the showdown with a look that says "Shucks, just missed it...second best hand again!"; you may wish to ask to see their hand to expose their chicanery (ie they're chum). I've caught one or two people I thought were colluding over the years but mostly I only do it to keep players from not declaring their hand, you know the idiots with a good hand that hesitate turning up their hole cards for fear of being told they lost to a better hand.

"Declare 'em, Flip 'em or Muck 'em, but don't waste my time"

As has been discussed time and time again on 2+2 and pointed out my AKQJ10, 99% of the morons asking to see your hand don't/won't/can't use the information against you anyway. Deal with it silently and move on to the next hand.

It's always nice to have new posters on the board. Now that you've got your obligatory IWTSTH posts out of the way, please make up stories about Vegas, hookers, and blow. If you can get the search engine to put anything out but stories about hookers and blow, you'll realize that IWTSTH should be boring by now.

I'm still waiting for the "How much to tip hookers?" thread.
