you can get a much larger rear projection set for the same amount of money. my vote is rplcd, no risk of rainbows.

I would not buy any 720p tv right now, unless you have the need to get something really large (60"+) I know it's a little out of your price range, but you've gotta look at the 1080p's. Although you're right that no one is currently broadcasting at 1080p, blu-ray players are now out and the ps3 will be out in a couple of months. Not to mention if you ever do want to use it as a monitor, the higher resolution will be useful.

A 46" 1080p LCD will cost you between 3 and 4 grand, with a plasma being around 6-7. Sony and Samsung have awesome 1080p LCD's out right now and Sharp will be coming out with one in a month or two.

I don't mind spending twice as much if I'm going to keep the panel for 6-8 years and know that it will handle anything you throw at it for that time period.

$2k is my limit unfortunately.

Anyone else like any different models that are in my price range?

KDS-50A2000 50" 1080p sxrd = $2300

KDF-55E2000 55" 720p lcd = $1700
