Re: OT: Thinking about playing \"professionaly\"
Stay in school, keep your job and play more on the side. See how you're doing in a couple of years and post here again for advice.

Re: OT: Thinking about playing \"professionaly\"
If you're two tabling low buy in SNGs (6-11), 6.25 will be more than your hourly rate playing SNGs.

Re: OT: Thinking about playing \"professionaly\"
A fun idea would to be to keep good records (like you should be doing anyway), and moving all the decimal places to the right a couple places.
Post a trip report when you're done. Keep in mind, that if you were really playing that high, the competition would be a lot tougher. Use it for next year's "what I did on my summer vacation" essay. Of course, you tell them you moved the decimal point to "pretend you were a real pro trying to make a living". This has potential for English as well as Econ. class. Thank code. If you weren't absolutely certain that you were going to get flamed for this post, stick to being a cart-jockey.

Oh, and to the other poster who said that 2 tabling the 11s should make hime more than 6.25 an hour, I doubt it...even if he were a winner. |

Re: OT: Thinking about playing \"professionaly\"
Start tracking your results. If you dont want to buy a program, then use one of the excel sheets floating around.
You cant get a decent sample of your ability until about 500 games..1000+ is a better bench mark. At the lower games like 11 , and the limited amount of games you are playing, the payoff will not be enough to overcome your current steady job. If you dont have too many responsibilities, i would say, read some books, pay attention to this forum, jump to the 22's and give it a shot. Once you have a mortgage, car payment, CC bills, and a full time job, its harder to make a run at it. I say what the hell..go for it. Just make sure you are constantly learning and make adjustments. GOOD LUCK. |

WTF? Who misspells cart? I had to read this several times to figure out what the hell you were talking about. I thought they had you making charts in Excel all day or something. |
