ran from early 200 through December 2003, [/ QUOTE ] Thats a LOT of ads!! I didn't think the internet was around in 200, but what do I know. Btw, if this is a free country, why does it cost so much to live here with more restrictions than most other similar countries? |

honestly, whats so bad about gambling? while we're at it, whats so bad about legalizing marijuana.... [/ QUOTE ] Let's not forget polygamy, too. Why should Larry King or Donald Trump have to divorce their current wives just because they found a new one? |

I doubt there are many people who make it their business to search for infractions. Maybe we shouldn't be outing them here. I think the Government is justifiably afraid to actually take a case to court because they might lose and set a precedent. The name of the game seems to be intimidation and they may be picking targets who will cave in without a fight. They really are on thin ice here and one prominent defeat could undo everything they have "achieved". The big financial and media companies would love to take the gambling money but they are afraid. Show them that they have nothing to fear and Party could be accepting American credit cards and advertising on Leno by the end of the week. |

Party-dot-net is already advertising on these major network type programs (maybe not Leno though...but certainly some big network programs, especially sports-events).
Govt could certainly go after many more venues for advertising the dot-com versions of the sites if they wanted to. 2+2 website and Cardplayer are a couple of those venues imo. (and other mags like All-In, Bluff, High Roller, PokerPlayer, etc) |

The name of the game seems to be intimidation and they may be picking targets who will cave in without a fight. [/ QUOTE ] I think that the government should not be acting like this. This is wrong. This is like when the big music companies and record labels were going after individuals and intimidating them to pay settlements for the music/songs they downloaded online. Let's hope the Gov't doesn't start going after "high-volume" online "gamblers" in a similar manner. To me, they're the idiots. Every day - every hour that goes by, the Gov't is LOSING tons of money that it could be bringing in by simply regulating the industry. They'd rather be stubborn and maintain the stance that "it's illegal" and wrong, etc. Well, casinos and Poker rooms all littered all over throughout the US and people gamble and play poker all day long in them. Playing online is just moving that same (legal) industry from the B & M to Online. What's the big deal/issue? If people want to take $200. and go play Online poker with it, why not let them? |

Catherine L. Hanaway, the United States attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, said prosecutors compare accepting gambling ads to advertising on behalf of drug dealers and child pornographers. If they are putting gambling ads on the same level as child porn, then you better be damn careful! [/ QUOTE ] This is the most ridiculous thing I have seen in awhile, I can't belive these people can say [censored] like this with a straight face. |
