it's not within the responsibility of the dealer to call time, but he/she needs to keep the game going. from what was written there was adequate time for a decision to be made. freaking hilarious though.

what is adaquate time? 2 mins? 5 mins? 10 minutes?

seriously, It's not up to the dealer. If the players at the table cared about the guy taking time of the hand, they would have called the floor.

I honestly don't think anyone knows what adequate time is.

I had a lady try and call a clock after one minute because the blinds were going up soon and she didn't want to pay a bigger BB.

I think adequate time should be decided by a majority vote of the people of the table.

Like 6 people think he's taking too long - clock is called.

OMFG!!

Andrew is my all-time favorite! Doesn't sound like something he would do. Whenever he's dealing I get extra aggro because I like to hear him say RAISE UP!!!!!

damn who is that in the avatar?

The dealer should keep the game going, but this is unreasonable. He/she should just deal the cards and keep their mouths shut

Two minutes before the dealer spoke up with a warning? Then he gave the player even more time before deciding that this game had been stopped long enough?

How can anyone think the dealer is out of line here? What's he supposed to do, wait 30 minutes before saying something?

This isn't a $250,000 decision we're talking about here. Crap, or get off the pot.

Seriously, if 2½ minutes isn't enough time for the dealer to take matters into his own hands, how long SHOULD he wait? His entire down?

EDIT: One more thing to consider: Someone here says this is an excellent dealer. We need to remember that this dealer is in this room every day. He may have seen that this player has a history of going into the tank for way too long, way too often. I don't know that's the case, but it's certainly possible.

I want it to be clear that I am not opining on what the rule is, or how the dealer handled. I do think that players routinely take far more time than is necessary to play their hands. My sentiments are always going to err on the side of dealers and floors that keep the game moving.

Sometimes when it seems like 2 minutes it's only been perhaps a minute. If this person is a repeat offender, that's one thing, but if not then let the person have time.

I can't believe that no one at the table called the clock after 2 minutes! Thats insane. Must be a raked game, no way that happens on a time collection table.
