problem isn't how much I pay in taxes - it's how much is funneled into the pockets of cronies of this Administration in the worst case of war-profiteering I've seen in my lifetime -

we could fix New Orleans to withstand a 10000 yr surge with the money we dump into Iraq every MONTH -

taxes don't need to be higher or lower - (we should allow the tax cuts passed 6 yrs ago to expire - they only benefit the richest and already well padded/protected top 2%tile)

but more importantly - we should just stop our tax money on guns and friends of Republicans and use it to help America. Enough of the friends of Cheney misappropriating billions of dollars and shafting the taxpayer cause they're hunting buddies with the guys who write the kickback checks.

and yes I work and pay taxes -

Nice hijack.

I would complain that I pay too much under any administration, and that my money was being shunted away to fund the mandate or entitlement of the day.

As far as letting tax cuts expire, what do you think is a "fair" ceiling on the percentage of income tax that we pay in this country? Your obviously happy with 39.6% -- would 50% be OK? How bout 70% ? Such marginal rates were operational not that far in the past-- in fact, I believe there was a war going on then also.

Im 25, not sure how much i pay but i live in NY and i make about 50k.

Also a Socialist. Taxes are too high on the middle class and the poor, too low on the rich.

i have been working full time since i was 17 and a sophomore in college
this year i will pay about 30% federal + state combined on my day job, and about the same on my gambling winnings
i pay taxes to a government i don't support therefore i pay too much

I am something of a socialist, but not being a statist I don't think I fit the mold you are referring to in the OP. I don't have a problem paying the percentage of taxes I currently pay, or more for that matter, but would prefer to do so to a legitimate cooperative or at the very least a less intrusive, decentralized federation.

my guess is that many of the anarcho-capitalists are going to be strangely silent in this thread regarding their work and tax burden

Progressive taxation is not socialist per se. Even redistributive schemes are not socialist, although socialists usually support those things along with the socialism.

What makes socialism isn't the taxation scheme. It is the govt control of production and intereference into the free association of individuals.

these are marginal. effective is higher since I lose out on many deductions. For example, I support three children and a wife. I get two personal exemptions, not 5.

And I agree with natedogg completely-- i do think there is a correlation between those who are self-proclaimed socialists and their working and taxpaying experience though. ?obviously?

What's strange about it? I know several have been very open about their occupation, earnings, etc in the past.

What relevance does it have in regards to anarcho-capitalists, specifically?

that most of you are kids in college with no job experience who don't pay taxes

other than borodog i've never heard of any of you holding a real job. and i'm not sure 'pirate' counts as a real job anyway.

i'm sure some of the others are but i distinctly remember that several of the bigger idiots are like 19 and haven't filled out a w-4 in their lives. figures that they would have such naive expectations about the 'market' when their participation in it is limited to spending other peoples' money.
