Re: J9s steal (4handed)
[ QUOTE ]
All in all I would say standard, except for possibly raising the flop. If the river is a blank, and he bets I would call, and if he checks I would bet. [/ QUOTE ] I can't fault a raise on any street but I like it as played, also. |

Re: J9s steal (4handed)
*grunch*
I'd raise for a free SD on the turn. You can value-bet if you hit your straight. If he is very observant, he might reraise you though, because you did a similar thing during the last orbit. That pushes me towards a simple call-down. But the board is very coordinated so it takes guts for him to reraise here. Therefore I'd still raise the turn. |

Re: J9s steal (4handed)
i'd prob raise the flop before calling down. if i didn't raise the flop, I'd play it the same. i don't want to fold this hand or pay 4 BB's on the last two streets.

Re: J9s steal (4handed)
yeah i mistyped the other hand, obviously one of the other cards was a spade. the point was that he had a flush draw on that turn.
villain nearly timed out on the river before calling with 55. |

Re: J9s steal (4handed)
I'd generally raise the flop. It is the kind of board where you will get call downs from all kinds of hands thinking that you are FOS. I played a hand pretty bad in a 30 game last night on a board such as this one. I just thought he had air and called down with 66 and of couse he had TP2K.
If I called the flop I'm certainly not going to raise the turn. |

Re: J9s steal (4handed)
I don't have anything to add to the actual hand really. Some hypotheticals I'm curious about though (as I'm currently trying to suck less at HU play):
-If we raise the flop and he calls and then c/c the turn, river is a bet right? Because a player this aggro would have put in another bet somewhere with JT or better I assume, BUT it turns out that pretty much every reasonable 9 beats us (A9-Q9 have us outkicked, while 99s-T9s flopped two pair...I guess he could have 79s and pay off though). I don't really think he has a T at all based on the way the hand was played, so even though we're mostly just trying to get bets out of like AJ+, A8, A7, 77 that seems to be the bulk of his range after he gives up that quickly. -If we raise the flop and it goes call/cr turn then is it a peel and fold or a calldown? I'm thinking peel/fold as this is the "I have a monster" line. -If we raise the flop and he donks either big bet street do we call down UI? Or peel/fold if he does it on turn? If on the river it seems he donks things like a random J or PP too often to fold. |

Re: J9s steal (4handed)
first question: yes i'd value bet the river. he might call down AK/AQ/AJ along with underpairs and pairs of 8s.
second question: that's kind of the problem. i dont know if he's steaming or not so im pretty committed to showing this down if i raise the flop. third question: same as #2, yeah i'm pretty much showing down. |

Re: J9s steal (4handed)
[ QUOTE ]
i would usually raise the flop. if i called i would sometimes raise the turn. if checked to i would definitely bet the river. [/ QUOTE ] I hate it when I want to respond to a hand and all I can do is quote you. |
