Re: Live 1/2 DEEP stacked AA hand
Your PF raise is not that big, especially live.
Go broke if need be. I think i prefer calling flop and check turn and get it in here or on river. Since it's live and straddled, i don't think this count as deepstacked. There is 8$ in before cards are dealt, this is closer to 600NL thus you only have a bit more than 100BB. |

I pushed.
He instacalled with 88 and I bricked. I felt like a complete idiot for losing 250BBs with a one pair hand, but I guess with the straddle its more like 100BB. Bottom line is the push is gross, because it allows him to play perfectly. |

Re: Results
Dude, I go broke here too, honestly, but I go broke on the turn. To those saying get it in on the flop...What did you think I (or any other semi-decent player) would call a push with here? JJ? AT? J9? No way. As he said, his hand's face up, and HE knows that I know that.
He could have called and reevaluated the turn...either CR or folded then when I have more of my stack in... Tough beat yo. Sit to my left preflop. |

[ QUOTE ]
5 or 6 people call 5 and I bump it up to 45. Unfortunately, telegraphing my hand with such a big raise is really the only way I can thin the field. [/ QUOTE ] NLHTAP has a good section on this type of situation. Your reraise was the worst possible size, especially if you plan on going to the felt with an overpair to a dry board. You could have shown Villian your hand and he would have correctly called knowing he has implied odds to hit his set and double up. If your plan is to go all the way with this hand on a dry board, then make your PFR larger to cut down on the implied odds. That way, even if you double up someone every time the hit a set on you, you'd still make a profit over the long run. As played, the board is pretty dry (who is calling your PFR with a hand that made a stright draw.) So when the PFRer gets min-raised on the flop on a dry board, warning bells should go off. JJ-QQ may make this play, but usually those hands would have raised PF. Unless the guy thinks you whiffed AK, he has a set. I'd still call here and reevaluate the Turn. |

Re: Live 1/2 DEEP stacked AA hand
You should have made it 100 preflop if the idiots are going to call hoping to stack you off.

Re: Live 1/2 DEEP stacked AA hand
a) Pushing this flop sucks. you lose any and all value from hands that you beat, and only get called by hands that crush you.
b) Preflop sucks. If it gets called 6 ways, make a HUGE raise. I'd say 60-65 pretty minimum. Furthermore, if you have ever done this as a bluff before, you're likely to get looked up. c) Flop sucks. Either weak lead the damn thing if you think he'll bluff with air, or make a real bet. As is, you have no clue where you stand because your bet is both likely to get bluff raised or raised with a monster. d) I'd say the best line here is to call the flop raise and make a pretty hefty donk bet of about 2/3 of the pot on the turn. If nothing else, it might just confuse him into calling. |
