Re: Ak - I have no idea how to play NL
I lead the river and call a medium raise...given the river check you have to fold w/out a read

Re: Ak - I have no idea how to play NL
raise more to increase fold equity
whats wrong with that 70% of the time you will miss the flop. and you have the best hand preflop? what do you do after that he may float you with anything in position? and you will have to play 3 streets w/o position i still think raising more pf is good |

Re: Ak - I have no idea how to play NL
I'd fold the turn. Given that you called, I'd blocking bet the river for about $20 and fold to a raise.

Re: Ak - I have no idea how to play NL
Thanks for the replies. This will sure need some adjusting in my part.
Well, the villain at hand turned out to be very laggy and bluff happy. How bad is this? How to approache blind battles in general? What about the bet sizes? Should I give up on the river against this player or just push? Re: Ak - I have no idea how to play NL
Puke. That's an ugly hand, blind battle or not.
This isn't limit (as many have repeatedly told me). Just call the flop. Bet the turn if he checks, call down reasonably small bets from him otherwise, given your LAG read. |

Re: Ak - I have no idea how to play NL
I definitely don't like the 3 dollar grabass on the flop. If this guy is so loose and bluff happy that your 8 might be good, why not wait untill you have a stronger hand against him.

Re: Ak - I have no idea how to play NL
good point...I don't think I'd be at this spot on river but I'd have to bet it....calling raise isnt good probably...

Re: Ak - I have no idea how to play NL
Wow, that 2nd hand is ugly as hell.
Call flop, really. And whenever you raise, make a ~potsized raise, not a retarded minraise. As played check behind turn and check behind river, no better hand is folding and I seriously doubt whether a worse hand is calling. |

[/ QUOTE ] I find that betting the turn in situations like this (when checked to) allows me to check behind on the river far more frequently than otherwise. Otherwise I often face a bluff or blocking bet. Also, given read, villain will call with worse hands. |
