Re: Dealing with LAGs, Part II - Delayed C-Bet
If you had more chips, you could push out 88-TT, but yeah, check behind and pray he was on a draw of some kind

Re: Dealing with LAGs, Part II - Delayed C-Bet
Why not just call his turn bet and look to see what he does on the river?

Re: Dealing with LAGs, Part II - Delayed C-Bet
I'm glad you posted this as it's the type of hand that shows up rarely on MTT forums but is nonetheless important for developing your overall game. With shorter stacks this scenario doesn't show up because villain doesn't have the implied odds to call bets with junk PF and on the flop. If you saw a villain doing so, you could just c-bet the flop and call his push, knowing that he's check-raising with air enough to make the play profitable.
I don't really know what the best line to take here is, but I suspect it's a matter of mixing up a) your line of check flop, raise turn b) jcm's line of check flop, call turn c) standard c-bet flop, reevaluate turn Knowing how often to make each play is really a matter of getting really good reads on your opponents' playing styles. |

Why not just call his turn bet and look to see what he does on the river? [/ QUOTE ] Like I mentioned, 1) to offer incorrect odds to drawing hands, and 2) to avoid facing a bet of 2500-3500 on the river with ace high, which he is going to make a LOT, if I don't raise the turn. I guess I do see jcm's point, that calling the 2500 on the river would leave me in the same chip position as raising 2500 on the turn, and then I have no additional decisions. I just really feel nauseous to call two bets for 1/3 of my stack in the ME with ace high. It comes down to how often the turn raise folds better hands, and how often he is on a draw with more than 6 outs or so. |

Re: Dealing with LAGs, Part II - Delayed C-Bet
jcm-also curious what you would do if he checked the turn? Bet now, or check again? If bet, plan vs a raise? My instinct would be check behind, call reas. river bet.

[/ QUOTE ] I think betting the turn would open you up to a semi-bluff raise that you would have to fold to when you might have the best hand. So I like your line of check turn, call river bet. If he checks river, I'm also checking, because a worse hand is almost never calling. |
