I'm going to have to get hold of NLHTAP sometime. Almost everything I've ever heard from it is either untrue or misguided in my view.

There are some very, very strange things in it.

You've got to be misreading something. Sklansky isn't that dumb

Check out my one and only worth while OP:
Decisions based upon preflop pot odds

The best response is when Matt Flynn says that Sklansky has a similar problem in his "upcoming" book. So I know you've got to be misreading it somewhere.

Admittedly I only skimmed that thread quickly, but it looked like you were talking about implied odds whilst I was talking about pot odds. Obviously implied odds are way important in any NL decision.

I fold preflop most of the time, unless I have been pretty quiet.

So I really dont like your raise preflop in first place, but once you are re-raised you should think "CRAP! that sucks but I am not going to waste any more money". If I had a deeper stack (as well as villan say 160+BB) and I felt confident I had implied odds needed to destack villan then I'd be much more inclined to call, but with less then 100+BB, it really is not worth it most of the time.

I don't have too much of a read on BB

3.[ QUOTE ]
Hero raises to $3.5, SB calls, BB reraises to $9

[/ QUOTE ]

There's a call and re-raise (not quite pot sized but close enough). You're call won't close the action. Fold until no. 1 is no longer true.

Edit: Didn't notice how short BB is. Now I fold even with a read.
