Re: Wedding Reception Songs
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The second song is for the groom & mother dance. I hit a few sites that claim to specialize in selecting music, but they all were suggesting sappy love songs. Not my idea of a song I want to dance to with my mother. Again, any suggestions? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, a lot of the songs some websites recommend for the monther-son dance are pretty creepy. We used "Hope You'll Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. [/ QUOTE ] That definitely makes the short list. Thanks! |

Re: Wedding Reception Songs
I went to a wedding a couple weeks ago, and they had the DJ play a clip of a song unique to each couple introduced. I think they tried to make it somehow related to the groomsmen or bridesmaids, but I didn't know all of them so I wouldn't have been in on all of the inside jokes. I don't know for sure if the wedding party people knew what songs the bride and groom were using for their introductions. Some of them seemed pleased; others were shocked/embarrassed. Either way, it was a fun idea.
Edit: By "clip" I mean 10-15 seconds. |

Re: Wedding Reception Songs
I play in a few wedding bands so I see a lot of this stuff:
For wedding party introductions: Blues Brothers Theme is energetic and you can loop it several times for 30 people. We also play a Barry White instrumental, I'm not sure or the name of it. At any rate, nobody will really be listening to the music at this point, it should be background as the MC announces the names of the people from the wedding party. In fact, every wedding I've played has the introductions take place over an instrumental. For mother son, here are several options: Song for My Son (complete cheese) You Raise me Up - Josh Groban What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong Are probably the most common. |

Re: Wedding Reception Songs
Actually, here's a more complete list of mother/ son dances I've performed:
Unforgettable/ Nat King Cole As the Years Go By - Vanessa Williams The Way You Look Tonight (Combined with Father/ Daughter) Blessed? You Decorated My Life - Kenny Rogers Through the Years - Kenny Rogers You Light Up My Life - Debbie Boone I Hope You Dance - Leann Womack Wind Beneath My Wings The Circle - Harry Chapin You've Got a Friend - James Taylor Teach Your Children Well That's a few, anyway. It was interesting going through past emails and seeing how so many clients didn't even bother with a mother/ son dance. |

Re: Wedding Reception Songs
1)Introduction song - Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by U2...not only a great song with a nice buildup and then background quality, but it'll probably get the bridesmaids worked up.
2)I'll Be - Edwin McCain or Kiss from a Rose - Seal |
