There are companies that do nothing but insure promotions like this. You pay them a few grand, and the give you some sort of "Million Dollar Sweepstakes." They count on no one winning, but pay out in the unlikely event someone does. I negotiated one for a bar once. So while I can't speak for the contest you're asking about, I can tell you that most of them are winable, but probably no one will win.

I once won an "official" NBA basketball from a gatorade I bought. I sent in the cap, and they sent me an "official" b-ball. That's pretty much the only thing I ever won like that, though.
