You know you're in trouble when AA is your biggest loser. [/ QUOTE ] you know your in deeper (censored) when AA is your biggest winner, yet your total profit is under said figure for AA humbugs |

Re: KJo: My biggest money loser
Its a sucker hand. Its dominated by AK, AJ and KQ, all popular hands to play.

Re: KJo: My biggest money loser
I had the same problem. Now I open KJo from HJ but not earlier (I opened previously from MP2 with that), exept in very tight games. Stoxtrader does the same, so it might be right...

Not a good hand.
KJo is not a good hand. vs decent players in a full ring game i usually don't play it. if it is folded to me in late position i raise. if a decent player or two has limped i fold. it looks better then it plays, and good players tend to have it dominated.

Re: KJo: My biggest money loser
[ QUOTE ]
Just looked through PT stats for 11.5K hands (not huge I know), but was VERY suprised to see KJo as the biggest money loser (-0.67BB/hand, 105 times). I think I must be doing something fundamentally wrong? (Although I am winning at 3.61BB/100 across 3 levels for this sample size) Any ideas or siggestions much appreciated (I bet you're going say "just don't play it then"?!) Ian [/ QUOTE ] Could it have something to do with domination? Let me guess, most of your losses come from being up against A-K, K-Q and A-J. |

The sample size is pretty bad, as well. I would break it down by position and see where you are losing with it the most. [/ QUOTE ] Sample size is too small, so break it down even smaller? |

Re: KJo: My biggest money loser
Hi Ian,
I highly recommend the replay feature for your losing hands. I was amazed how infrequently, I won with my two worst hands (KJo and QJs) and began playing them only in position when I thought I could get a cheap flop. Hope this Helps, L- |

Re: KJo: My biggest money loser
Big unsuited hands have these two features: they are good when they are currently the best hand; they are terrible when they are currently not the best hand.
Against an early reasonable raiser, KJo is a big dog. You have to pray he has TT and you are slight dog that cannot win money from him, or pray he has AQ and a reasonable dog and again cannot win much money, unless it comes KQx. Now its no secret in determining when you are likely to have the worst hand: its when a reasonable person raises or when a tight player calls a raise. This is not rocket science. The best way to avoid playing KJo when someone else wants to raise is [1] fold when they raise, and [2] avoid it early just in case they raise. So, play it selectively. - Louie |
