We need relievers. Only one who hasn't been terrible thus far is Speier. Doubtful that Accardo is going to make a difference. Chacin needs to come back too.

Our relievers would be fine, if we had a decent starting staff. If we had even 4 starters going 7 innings per game, our top bullpen consisting of Speier, Schoenweis, Accardo, Ryan would hold/save most games. The problem is that we have 2 AAA pitchers in the starting rotation. Once Gus gets back, they need to find someone to fill the 5 spot (maybe Marcum, who has shown promise) and then shorten to 4-men as often as possible depending on the scheduling down the stretch. If they do that, they have as good a shot as anyone.

AL Wild Card race:

Chicago Sox 59 40 .596 -
NY Yankees 58 40 .592 .5
Minnesota 58 41 .586 1
Toronto 56 44 .560 3.5

As if it weren't tough enough on the Blue Jays, they've now got three teams in the AL Central ahead of them. A month ago, I was thinking the Tigers and White Sox would ensure only one AL East team would make the playoffs. Today, I think it's the Tigers and Twins which will ensure that.

How many teams have 4 starting pitchers that can reliably go 7 innings?

Although 4 starters going 7 each is asking a little much, he has a good point. I *believe* that Toronto's pen has thrown more innings then any other in the majors.

12-3 vs Seattle last night.

Grand Slam for Johnny Mac! Unbelievable. Hinske is hitting too. We haven't even missed Rios! Playing McDonald over Adams is such an improvement.

Wildcard race is really tightening up now. That series in New York is going to be huge.

Hopefully good Burnett shows up tonight.

Ryan
