I think the idea is an "action limp":

SB pushes, BB folds, you fold, now BB is closer to busting
SB pushes, BB calls, you call, now it has to go BB>SB>you for you to bust OOTM.
SB folds, BB pushes, you call, you are now heads-up w BB.

But I personally don't think the combination of your hand and your stack size is good enough for this.

So I guess I fold and hope SB is smart enough to shove vs. BB.

Curtains, can I ask you why you didnt push this? I generally always push this situation but I also bubble to much. If we figure that the sb will call something like 44+,A7+,KJ+ and BB will call 100% then we get a +.2% push. I would assume most small blinds dont call wider then that here and that you also have some fe against the small stack. Given that is this hand just a fold because you had a read on the sb that he was loose or am I missing something here?

[/ QUOTE ]

If I can jump in, I personally will want my minimum edge to be quite large here i.e. something more than the standard +.5% because of the stack situation i.e. shorty sandwiched between two big stacks. If he doubles up then it's time to start rammin and jammin again.

People talk a big game like they'd shove any 2 from the SB if curtains min-raises here....in practice, this is hardly the case at the 109s. The players are either too bad to recognize this move, or too good to risk it.

Ya I have been expiremnting with this play a lot for the act reason you outlined here.

pineapples,

I was thinking action limp myself with I saw this hand but I'm pretty sure Raptor has no idea what an action limp is or would never be caught dead attempting one. I think he figures his hand is pretty solid with 2 left to act and neither player will be crazy about shoving into him so he can pickup chips the old fashioned way postflop.

"Action limping" > Folding >>>> Pushing

Yugo, isnt what you outlined one of the key benefits of this so called action limp?? I would think that postflop is a decent part of why youd want to do that in the first place.

#2 you should have a pretty easy fold, no?

This play seems like it could be really good in a lot of situations I've found myself in. Seeing a flop really isn't the most disastrous result when you're on the button, and any action ensuring the small stack doesn't collect the blinds for free has got to be good.

True, which is why I don't limp here, you're losing a key benefit of the play.
