1.) 23, moved out when I was 18 when I started college
2.) I live 150 miles away, so about 2 or 2 1/2 hours to drive there.
3.) I stay at home for a few days at christmas. Other than that I don't really go home. Sometimes I go home once during the summer, or if my mom has some project she needs done I'll go home and do that so she doesn't have to pay somebody.
4.) I talk to her on the phone every month or so, sometimes more, rarely less.

24 moved out at 18

About 400 miles away from my parents

Before where I live currently I lived between 40 and 90 minutes from my parents. I would visit home about once a week and lived at home during the summers. I still visit quite often and talk to my parents quite often but more because of family issues that have been occuring.

I moved out when I was 18 and went to college. I always got summer jobs around the country (CA, UT, SD), so I haven't stayed at my parents' place for more than two weeks or so since I was 18.

I live about 5-6 hours' drive from my parents, and visit them seldom as possible. Its not like there's any bad blood at all. On the contrary, we get along just fine. Its just that I really don't enjoy staying with them. By the first morning, I'm ready to go. Its a little different when they visit me. In those cases, I can stand them for a bit longer before I start feeling imposed upon.

This year I'm really pushing not to visit them for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. My girlfriend, with whom I've lived for a couple years now, asked if that meant I'd visit her parents with her for the other holiday. I practically went crosseyed and blurted out, "I don't want to see my parents, why on earth would I want to see yours?!" before I could really think about it.

I used to visit my parents all the time, until I started having kids. A plane ticket isn't a big deal, but five plane tickets is a big deal.

If it wasn't for online poker, we'd never get up there.

1. I am 21. I moved out at age 17.
2. My parents live thousands of miles away from me. I live in Lawrence , KS. They live in Stuttgart, Germany.
3. Once a year maximum.

This thread made me sad.

I moved out when I went to college at 18. lived 300 miles away. visited for holidays and lived at home during the first couple summers. theb moved to another place 300 miles away for a year. visited home once. I just moved to the other side of the US, and would say that I will make it to my parents place for xmas but I think they're coming to visit me so I will probably go a couple years without going to their place.

I talk to my dad through email on an almost daily basis. I talk to my mom less often as we have less to talk about.

1) How old are you, or how long has it been since you moved out?

22 - 4 years out

2) How far away, travel time wise, are you from your parents?

30 min drive.

3) How often, if at all, do you stay with your parents?

When classes are in session, hardly ever. During prolonged breaks, such as Summer/Winter break, about 15% of the time to hang out with HS/childhood friends. My family attends sporting events and other events at my university, so I still see them every week or two.

As for my three roomates, they live 50 min, 70min, and 5hrs driving time from home. Other than holidays, they go home maybe 5-10 nights a year.

1) 26 (happy birthday to me) moved out when I was 17, back when I was 18, out when I was 21, back when I was 22, out when I was 24.

2) I currently live about 12,000 miles away from my parents, but when I move back to New Zealand in a month, I'll stay / live with them again until I work out where I am going to live etc.

3) Haven't even seen them for a couple years, talked on mum's birthday in january, emails every month or so, MSN dad every few days

I don't think there's anything wrong with staying with your parents when you're in the area.

Why are you leaving your job in the Med, if you don't mind sharing?
