Unless you are a top 10% player at your level it almost doesn't seem worth it. You could win millions in your lifetime but with taxes and expenses and rake and tilt, very good players can risk going broke.

I think if I didn't hit a draw in 10k hands I would easily be broke due to how many nut draws I find myself making plays with.

Risk of ruin is virtually nil if one moves down in stakes during bad runs. The risk of ruin calculations using std dev and win rate assume that one never moves down, and puts the his or her last $5,000 onto the 25/50 NL table. Reasonable pros never do this and never really risk going broke.

Just happened recently to someone that was multi-tabling the 25/50 on Stars everyday since it opened and now is multi-tabling 1/2.

90% will be broke or will have been broke at one point in the next 2 years.

.00001% of them will kill themselves or rob a bank with that kid from Lehigh

thats just stupid. Most people with no bankroll manage, ent will go broke, but I dont see how you will if you play with like 100 buyins and step down as you need to. Just so unlikely.

the "live pros" of old are a completely diff. breed, w/ a very different mentality than today's online players. Many of the people i play w/ often have a ridiculously small % chance of going broke @ all in their lifetime if they stick to their "regular" game. People go broke when they play new games (maybe higher stakes live, or more headsup, or higher stakes online w/e).
