but I'm outta state so it won't likely affect my insurance

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you're being overly optimistic there. Most states are linked to each other now via interstate agreements. That doesn't guarantee that NY and your state are linked, but you might want to find out before lying to an insurance company about how many tickets you have.

[ QUOTE ]
If I get a ticket in another state, will it affect my driver's license?

Forty-eight states belong either to an agreement called the "Driver's License Compact" or the "Non-Resident Violator Compact." (The only states that don't belong to one or the other are Michigan and Wisconsin.) When you get a ticket in one of these states, the department of motor vehicles will relay the information to your state -- and the violation will affect your driving record as if the ticket had been given at home.

how fast were u going exactly and what was the speed limit? seems like driving fines in the us are really nice. Going 20mph over the limit i would lose my license at allmost any limit :<

[/ QUOTE ]

First was 82 in a 55 and the second was 82 in a 65. Alabama is a lot more lenient than other states. In MD, this would cost me at least $700. In VA, I'd be looking at an automatic reckless driving with jail time for the first one. Although in MD I've had so many tickets that eventually I stumbled upon a strategy that got me not guilty verdicts every time. Obviously these are not my first tickets, so I'm not even going to try fighting them. My insurance rates are as jacked up as they get, so that's not really an issue.

Driving in the USA is like a bad beat.

In the UK the speed limit is 70 on our motorways ( freeways.... ) and cops wont pull you unless you're doing over 85 so most people cruise along at 80.

It's generally the same here. In New Mexico, the speed limit is 75 on the freeways, and you can cruise by cops doing 90 without an issue. 100 or more might get you pulled. It all depends on what state/city you live in. When i was at Fort Hood, there was a speed trap in Kileen where they would give you a ticket for going 1 over the speed limit. Crooked bastards.

I've gotten 4 tickets in a car and 4 on a waverunner in the past two years. Went to traffic court for every one, got a leniant judge every time. Less than 200$ total fines, no points on the license. I pwn tickets.
