Buddy of mine is a garbage man he is an honest guy and hard working. He tells me he often finds stuff in the garbage at places like Wal-Mart. Stuff like an X-box and other expensive items. He thought customers must return them to the store saying they did not work and asked for a refund. So he thinks the store gave the customer the money and got a refund for the item from Microsoft and threw them out. But just to be sure he took them home and tested them.

He was surprised to find out they worked fine. I told him that the staff there must hide stuff in the garbage till they get off work and then take it home for themselves or they sell it. He refuses to believe this theory, as he would never watch someone steal in this manner and not turn them in. Yet he feels it is ok for him to keep the items as he feels he found them!?! I explained that even if his crazy theory is right he is still stealing from Microsoft but he does not or does not want to see the connection.

Sometimes we lie to ourselves so we can do stuff we know is wrong.

Dude, it's in the trash. Up for grabs.

Ripping off Walmart is one of the most noble things you can do. Walmart is evil. Rally 'round the family, pocket full of shells!

It's called stealing. I'm sure stuff like this is done - but obviously cannot last long as they are bound to be caught eventually.

Totally not worth it and compeltely wrong.

Would you give out drugs at your pharmacy if people slipped you some extra cash? I hope the answer is no. If not you should rethink your priorities in life.

I seriously doubt you would be able to get that deal from the vast majority of people working at wal-mart. I also have my doubts that many people working at wal mart are smart enough to understand what you mean by "tip".

"wow, of course ill carry these out for you! Ill meet you at the register whenever you are ready!!!"

and if you word it "hey, im looking to steal these, ill give you a $100 if you help", It kicks the conscious on of many dihonest people that would somehow otherwise be able rationalize it as not stealing.

I was wondering about this. Is it possible the Walmart employee was just dumb and thought she had bought it and just wanted help to her car?
