I'm still hoping for a "Live" airing of the ME FT with hole card cams on PPV

[ QUOTE ]
The prelim events are pretty boring to watch. They are basically an hour of all ins. [/ QUOTE ] And the ME isn't? They took 14 hours of play and whittled it down to 1 1/2 hours after commercials. It was nothing but all-ins the entire show. |

Re: Main Event to be broadcasted before preliminary events on ESPN, WH
Why not?
The main event is what most casual viewers wants to see. Why make people wait a few months before seeing. It generates the excitement for the rest of the events to be viewed. Also, it's not like the events are related... the preliminary events don't affect the outcome of the main event. By airing the main event quickly, it is more like a sporting event where people prefer to see it live or relatively quickly. |

Re: Main Event to be broadcasted before preliminary events on ESPN, WHY??
I agree its a great idea to get the circus out of the way and then broadcast the real poker events without the theatrics and [censored] that now goes with this soo called ME event.
I have little or no interest in watching an ace rag event. I anticipate the HORSE event to be incredible as well as other non internet entry events. jim |

Re: Main Event to be broadcasted before preliminary events on ESPN, WH
I did agree with this. But they said that the FT is going to be all NLHE. I don't see how this is going to be any different than the other events. It sucks that they had to take a great thing and ruin it just for the sake of television.

Re: Main Event to be broadcasted before preliminary events on ESPN, WH
I think 2 reasons why-
1. That's when the event is "hot" and people are interested in it. Would you rather watch the Superbowl a week later or sometime in May? The closer it is to same-day coverage the better the ratings will be. 2. No one in the general public really cares about the preliminary events anyway. So, their ratings won't be affected at all. |

[/ QUOTE ] FYP ... seriously, most people don't even know there are a bunch of events. When I mention to even my casual card playing friends that the WSOP is running right now, they say "that the one that Moneymaker fella won?" I say, "you know there are about 40 different events before that tournament," and they say, "no, now what were we talking about before you distracted us?" To most people, the ME is the WSOP. NCAces |

Re: Main Event to be broadcasted before preliminary events on ESPN, WHY??
[ QUOTE ]
I cant believe they are going to air the preliminary events after the main event. The main event airs on august 22nd, while the preliminary events air in october. What a terrible idea. [/ QUOTE ] If they really are doing this and it seems like they are based on their website then i give them kudos for showing the ME only 1 month after it starts. Last years' 4 month wait was ridiculous and they know that in this age of online information they need to be much quicker out of the gate. ESPN also knows that their ratings for the WSOP are almost entirely dependent on the ME. |
