Re: Do You Call?
[ QUOTE ]
Some of the responses that were discussed during the aformentioned cash game were: 1. Fold, I'd hate to be the first one put out of the tourney. 2. Call, the implied odds are worth it. 3. Fold, let the reckless ones eliminate each other first before getting in the mix. [/ QUOTE ] I told myself I'm going to try to be nicer. So this is an honest, serious, and not mean spirited response: None of these explanations make any sense. The answer that IS correc is right for the wrong reason. |

when you have PP aces you want as many people as you can all in preflop.. [/ QUOTE ] According to someone I played with at a small tourney, this is not true. I asked: "If you push aces UTG, how many players do you want to call?" They said: "Just one- Aces never hold up vs more than one person!" I quit talking to them immediately after. EDIT: A better spot than Aces all-in preflop would be if your opponent pushed without having any hole cards. |

Re: Do You Call?
You're +EV. I feel as though all you can do in poker is get your money in when you're the favorite. I suppose you could fold if you're afraid of busting out - in that case may I suggest you take up checkers instead? You can start the WCT - World Checkers Tour. Maybe even get Vince Van Patten to commentate! ;-)

Re: Do You Call?
You have to fold. Poker is all about gaining/losing EV. With aces you start out as favourite vs your opponents' hands preflop. Seeing a flop is senseless, as you are can only go from favourite to non-favourite, not the other way around. Thus aces should always be folded preflop when you can't raise enough to make your opponent(s) fold preflop.

Re: Do You Call?
[ QUOTE ]
EDIT: A better spot than Aces all-in preflop would be if your opponent pushed without having any hole cards. [/ QUOTE ] Haha, I was playing in a 15/30 game once where someone flopped a set against AA. Keep in mind there are MOUNTAINS of $5 chips on this table displayed by those who like to flaunt their money. This makes it extremely hard for OTHER players to see if someone has cards or not, which COMPLETELY hacks me off. The dealers only tell the players to keep their cards visible if requested, else many of them leave them behind these massive stacks. These two players got into a raising war on the turn and finally came the showdown. Only problem: the "set" player didn't have his hole cards...they were taken at some point (probably on the flop). LOL, VINDICATION! |
