Re: Straddling in NL
[ QUOTE ]
When you "straddle" in no limit, its really just a blind bet, because you don't get the option. [/ QUOTE ] Straddle is last action with the option. That's why it's a straddle. If you want to blind raise, you say blind raise. |

Re: Straddling in NL
its either live or dead.. and most of the time you'll get a different ruling from different floor personell.
i like stradling in loose NL games because it makes the game play bigger.. especially if there is no max. |

Re: Straddling in NL
A straddle is a mere extension of the BB, and for sure the straddler gets an option.

Re: Straddling in NL
In Tunica your allowed to live straddle from any position, including the button. IMO a live straddle from the button is POWERFUL.

Re: Straddling in NL
To clarify, since there is a lot of speculation...
It is not possible to eliminate blind raising. Even if a poker room decided you couldn't raise UTG before the cards came out, you could still blind raise without looking once they were out. Live straddling is not permitted by any Atlantic City casinos (I believe by law). You may blind raise in an NL game UTG, but if people just call, you do not get to act again. Your raise is dead. I have done it occasionally to loosen up a rocky game and have won many nice pots with it when I hit big hands with random cards and people think I'm just defending my blind raise. I have also check/folded the flop many times. |

[/ QUOTE ] It sounds kind of messed up, but there's an actual thread of the specifics of how they run that button straddle not so long ago. |
