First hand of the main event, you are the BB. Folds around to the SB who goes all-in. You look down at two black aces, and having read all those damn "AA First hand of the ME" threads in the MTT forum, you know the correct move is to call. Your opponent flips over pocket jokers. Clearly there is a misdeal, but the floorman called to the scene makes an unprecendented ruling: "Play the cards as they lie." You recieve no help from the board, and lose when your opponent flops a straight.


As you are leaving the tournament area, David Sklansky laughs at you, and tells you that while he never felt the need to say so in one of the many threads, AA is a clear fold there. He then asks you if you see why. When you inform him that you do not, in fact, see why, he laughs again and kicks you in the ass as you walk away.

Here is a story from last years main event that I heard about (from day 3 of the 2005 main event):

A player raises pre-flop (with QQ) and is called by the big blind (with K4). I am not sure of exeact chip counts, but was told both players had average stacks.

The flop comes Q22. The BB moves all-in with a huge overbet. Guy with QQ calls instantly.

The turns and river are both 2's and the big blind wins the hand.

It's Day 3 of the main event, and you've needed to go to the bathroom to pee for the last hour. You've been dancing around, trying to hold it in as to not miss a hand. The 15-minute break is announced, and you make a mad dash for the bathroom. However, there is already an extensive line because there is a Taco Bell convention being held there as well, and we all know how that can cause bathroom line problems.

In a flash of bad judgement, you decide to run outside and go behind a bush. As the cosmic injustice of the universe would have it, you are spotted by the most uptight police officer in all of Las Vegas. You are arrested on the spot and thrown in jail. You used all your cash on the buy-in, so you can't post bond. You call a friend, but he won't be able to come bail you out until noon the next day.

Noon rolls around, your friend shows up and you're free. You catch a taxi back to the Rio and spend a half hour trying to find your table because the staff there is so clueless. You sit down and see that you are the big blind, and the last of your chips are in to cover it. You finally breathe a sigh of relief just before the dealer reaches over and drags your cards into the muck. You were not sitting as the last card was dealt, so your hand is dead. As you sit there stunned, you watch as the board is dealt out A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

You finish in 801st place as the bubble boy. Everybody else is now in the money and celebrating.

And if that's not enough to win, did I mention that you were sodomized while in jail? And that you were locked in with a bunch of people from the Taco Bell convention? And that they had horrible gas?
