Default Wheres the wisdom

While I whole-heartedly agree that one should do as one pleases with their bodies and it seems to be cut and dry common sense that this won't happen....

....I believe that anything and everything usually can and will happen. I won't go on with tedious examples of modern day stupidity, but I wouldn't just dismiss this so easily. I have often found that you always have to fight for what is right regardless of logic. And imagine the uproar if some anti-gambling politician decided to use this as their foundation to cause further problems for this sport stating, "Look, they openly use drugs on TV."

I also have noticed that some of the pros were obviously high. Who cares. I also watch "Cheaters" and Joey Greco looks coked out of his gourd in every episode....so what, but he doesn't have to fight religuous puritanism.

I think anything can happen. I believe in conspiracies. I often opine (usually after a few beers) that the insurance lobby pursued Louisiana politicians to not improve their levy system (which was self-guided by the levy board) so that if the levies were breached and flooded the city, federal flood insurance would have to pick up the tab, not the insurance companies. I got this idea watching a Dateline episode where the insurance companies paid their private contractor adjustors to blame all of the property damage on water damage from flooding, not the hurricanes....and many people had no recourse.

If logic ruled, casinos would get rid of slow dealers that cause to casino to lose rake money. If logic ruled, players wouldn't tip $150 a day to dealers while playing (it usually is that old asian woman that tips $3 a shot and hits 40 pots a night). If logic ruled, I would have kept my mouth shut to begin with......

Hey dont laugh, if you pump a Jack full of HGH his head swells and he becomes a king. Definitely should be testing for this.

What about other drugs like adderal(sp?) that increase your focus? While i think its inpractical and extremely unlikely for drug testing to happen, i would hate to think that after 8 days of playing the main event i would be at a disadvantage because i didn't take an illegal drug to help me stay focused.

FIDE, the world chess federation, tried to implement drug-testing recently. There was some controversy; I'm not sure if it was ever resolved. But chess players have been tested for drugs at big tournaments within the last few years, and these were famous chess players, world-class GMs.

I never said that I was in favor of drug testing in poker, I just wanted to pose the question. In reality, drug testing in poker would be impractical and, appearently, very unpopular. It just seemed like an intriguing question as poker becomes more and more of a mainstream "sport".
