So the "deep tissue techniques" will "get the toxins out" how exactly? How do "the toxins" travel to your bladder to get pissed out? What part of your body do they come from?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the idea is that they get into your blood, are filtered out in the kidneys and then pissed out like any other toxins... I am no expert in this field however.

Doesn't sound too far-fetched to me

Ok, so where do they come from before they enter the blood? The toxins are just chilling in your... muscles? joints? What exactly are the toxins?

[/ QUOTE ]This isn't a hijack. Toxins are made-up. Our topic is made-up. Therefore, you're on topic.

I believe the toxins are related to acids that build up during exercise. Again I am not the expert here. But yes, various chemicals or toxins can exist in muscle tissue, this makes intuitive sense given that toxins and chemicals are present in the flesh of many animals we eat.

Are we talking about lactate or lactic acid? This is the substance that makes your muscles hurt when you work out too hard. I have no idea if massages help release this substance, although I'm pretty sure it is a toxin overaall.

You know how you can get all achy when you have a cold? When I get a massage when I have a cold, it makes my nose stuffier. Maybe it's b/c the cold gunk that is everywhere is released or maybe its because I'm lying face down for half an hour.

Its like any of those other alternative health care deals that are impossible to prove or disprove with western medicine / science double blind studies. it might or might not be B.S.

OP,

No, that's a load of [censored]. If you really want to "flush toxins," go for a 2 mile run and drink a lot of water.

My philosophy is, if you try it, and the results make you feel better, or offer a noticable difference to your health, go with it.
Eastern medicine, western medicine, listen to your body first and it'll tell you the right thing.
