My guess: Yankees miss the playoffs this year. (STFU HOMER!) NT |

I don't know the odds but if I had to guess that the ChiSox would finish with 101 wins and the Tigers would finish with 99. [/ QUOTE ] o rly? |

Is it safe to say that with the wild card, there will never be a great pennent race ever again? The best you can expect now is 3rd best in one league vs. 4th (which probably means a battle of 90-70 teams). [/ QUOTE ] last year's AL could have provided a great race if not for cleveland totally collapsing. imagine the loser of the sox-yankees series not getting into the playoffs anyway. |

That just reminded me that Atlanta used to be in the NL west, WTF was that all about? Sheesh. NT [/ QUOTE ] yeah, it was pretty dumb, but when the divisions were created, it wasn't really that big a deal geographically. sure, atlanta and cincinnati are farther east than chicago and st louis, but compare this to arizona being in the NFC east while carolina was in the west. |

Re: Two teams in same division with 100+ wins?
I was very much used to the Cincy NL-West rivalries when I was a kid (especially against LA for much of the 70's and 80's).
But man did we have an awful lot of 10:00 and 10:30pm games on TV. I very much recall that great NL West race of 93. |

That just reminded me that Atlanta used to be in the NL west, WTF was that all about? Sheesh. [/ QUOTE ] When there were only two divisions and not that many west coast teams, they had to put a couple of midwestern teams into the west. Cincinnati and Milwaukee seemed like decent enough choices, and when the Braves moved to Atlanta they just stayed in the same division. |
