Is there a player type that generally does well in this or does it vary? To clarify is the crazy LAG push master during the rebuy period the type that dominates these tournaments?

Many of my FTs come from the party $5 rebuys and I don't act like a total maniac in them. I spend around $40 each time. Whenever you get a premium hand just rebuy push until the break. Add-on and you shold have 7500-10000 and be set. I have less experience with the stars rebuys though.

You can probably use a similar strategy on stars. Just push your 66+, AJ+ each time you get it. You almost always get a caller.

This is exactly how I deal with the Party $5 rebuys and I have had enjoyed some success in them.

I have a feeling I'm going to get addicted to these. They sound like a lot of fun for a new player. Eek. I do have backup on my $1000 bankroll from casino money. Here comes addiction.

, then pillaged gobbo of 10% of his winnings

Well duh, i assumed you win it, which allows me to spend more on rebuys knowing i get 10% of first from you anyway.

I prefer the maniac strategy because it keeps me from doing anything dumb in the 2nd hour if I'm not getting cards. (Or, at least, it gives me the chips to survive the dumb things I invariably do.)

I play this alot and I don't try the maniacal rebuy strategy. I usually spend 9-21 dollars. Last Saturday i won this tourney and I only invested 9 dollars and i had a 8,000 stack after rebuy and add-on; so, I don't really think it's neccessary to have alot of chips after rebuy. Hey, but that's just me. Bobbo and TwistedEcho are much better than i am

Just play it, but don't be a pussy in the rebuy pd. Don't go nuts, but don't be afraid to call an alll in with A9s if you know the guy is a wacko.
